Children's Theater

COVID-19

Since 2008, The City of Sherwood and the Sherwood Foundation for the Arts have partnered to bring Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) to the children of Sherwood. Unfortunately due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, MCT has stopped touring and we had to cancel our plans for the summer of 2020. However, as soon as MCT starts touring again and the city and SFA feel it is safe to offer MCT again, we fully intend to.

About Missoula Children’s Theatre

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for 39 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,300 communities this year with up to 45 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition (usually on a Monday morning) and casts 60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented on Saturday. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales…a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT’s mission is the “development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts”.

Please only one show per child, so all can participate.

In an effort to keep the plays affordable for all children the Sherwood Foundation for the Arts and Cultural Arts Commission are looking for two families willing to host (provide a room) for the directors.  This is a great experience for you and your children.  If you are interested please contact us.
